Voice
He/Him/His
Ben joined the Monroe Street Arts Center in 2024, after graduating from the M.M. Voice Performance and Pedagogy program at Penn State University. A native of Pittsford, NY, he also holds a B.M. in Music Education and Musical Studies from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. At Penn State, he worked as a graduate assistant, teaching private voice lessons, class voice, and diction for singers.
Ben’s performance career has included multiple opera and musical theatre roles, but his specialty is the study and performance of art song, particularly Polish repertoire. He is an advocate for the representation of lesser-known and marginalized composers, and has regularly collaborated with living composers.
As a voice teacher, Ben believes that healthy singing is possible in any style, and that the study of multiple genres is the best way to explore and expand the capabilities of the voice. He encourages students to follow their musical passions, while also inspiring them to take risks and discover new joys of singing.
