Susann Ely is an artist and nature printer specializing in direct impressions of fish (gyotaku) and plants. She serves as a board member of the Nature Printing Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the art and history of nature printing.


Her work has been featured at venues including Madison’s Gallery Night and the Dodge County Center for the Arts. In 2020, she was a featured artist during Gallery Night, a city-wide event highlighting local artists. At this event, she exhibited her prints and gave a live

demonstration of gyotaku (traditional fish printing).


Ms. Ely earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Philippines. She lives and works in Madison, Wisconsin, where she teaches nature printing at local venues.


In her classes, Susann emphasizes the meditative and observational aspects of nature printing, inviting participants to slow down, experiment, and appreciate the intricate beauty of natural forms.

Who says vegetables are just for eating? In this fun and experimental class, we’ll turn food into art by using vegetables as printing tools. From bold patterns to delicate textures, you’ll learn simple techniques for creating vibrant prints inspired by nature and the kitchen. Expect a little mess, lots of creativity, and unique results. By the end of the class, you will have a set of four 12.5" x 12.5" 100% cotton napkins, paper prints to use as cards or collages, and instructions so you can continue your food printing journey at home. All supplies will be provided. No art experience necessary. 


This class is open for 14 yr+. 

Annual Registration fee does NOT apply.
