Julia Nicholas

Julia joined Monroe Street Arts Center as Executive Director in the summer of 2026, bringing more than 20 years of experience in arts administration, fundraising, marketing, and audience development. A graduate of UW–Madison’s Bolz Center for Arts Administration, Julia has built her career around connecting people and communities with meaningful arts experiences. Along the way, she spent more than a decade as Director of Development at Forward Theater Company and, most recently, served as Associate Director of Marketing at Children’s Theatre Company in Minneapolis.


Outside of work, Julia enjoys theater, travel, hiking, and a good OrangeTheory workout. She has a grown daughter, two beloved furry family members, and happily resides in Fitchburg with her husband, Tom.
