ENROLLMENT OPENS JULY 23RD AT 9 AM

Lydia Zoells (she/her) is an artist and educator based in Madison, Wisconsin. She teaches painting, drawing, and printmaking to undergraduates at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and to adults at Madison College and Atwood Atelier, among many other community art hubs in the Madison area. Her first career was in book publishing, which she left to pursue her M.F.A. in painting from the New York Academy of Art. As a beneficiary of continuing education programs for adults, she loves sharing her skills with other artists at every age and level, to build their abilities and confidence so that they can make art they are passionate about. Lydia’s paintings and prints have been exhibited in New York at Susan Eley Fine Art (NYC), the Salmagundi Club, Eyes On Art, The Living Gallery, LIC-Artists, and (of course) the New York Academy of Art, and in Wisconsin at American Feral, MIAD Galleries, and the Green Lantern Gallery.

One of the most popular painters in art history, Vincent Van Gogh was a French Post-Impressionist whose bold brushstrokes and vivid sense of color has influenced artists for over a century. In this workshop, we will look closely at paintings by Van Gogh, examining his use of color, distinctive brushwork, and creative composition, in order to inspire our own paintings.
Two 3-hour sessions:
In the first class, we will make a “master study” of a painting by Van Gogh, and then in the second class, students will bring in their own images to attempt in Van Gogh’s style. This course will be taught using acrylics, but students who wish to paint in oils may bring their own supplies. Great for painters at any level.
This class is open for 14+. Those under 18 years should register with an adult. Supplies are included.
Annual Registration fee does NOT apply.
Minimum of 8 students for this workshop to run. Registration deadline: 7/29/26
