She/Her/Hers

Carey Zawlocki joined the team at Monroe Street Arts Center as Director in 2020. Her love of the creative and performing arts has been a driving force in her life and career. She has a deep personal understanding of the ways that art provides an outlet for expression, communication, and personal exploration. Carey holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography, and a Masters Degree in Art Education from Columbia College Chicago. After teaching visual arts in Chicago several years, she and her family relocated to Madison where they have lived for over ten years. In her tenure as Director of Monroe Street Arts Center, Carey was named a Brava Magazine Woman to Watch in 2022, has seen a 365% increase in program enrollment at MSAC and launched the Beyond Monroe Street initiative, which seeks to increase access to arts education through providing free art and music classes alongside program partners like Bayview Foundation and Aspire Therapy.
